The Florida City mission team hosted Souper Sunday on March 17 to raise money for their trip to Branches March 29-April 7. On January 13, CUMC spent the afternoon at the Franklin Bowling Lanes. All ages had fun showing off their bowling skills and enjoying the day with friends. In December, the children and youth at CUMC participated in the Courtland Christmas Parade. The float theme was ELVES IN ACTION, and was decorated with the Hat and Mitten Tree and Angel Tree. CUMC helps families in our community each year at Christmas time by sponsoring these trees. The Hat and Mitten tree collects hats, gloves, and scarves to distribute and the Angel Tree has names for the congregation to sponsor and purchase gifts for which are distributed at Christmas. On Friday, August 17th, families from our church got together to go see the Norfolk Tides play. It was an exciting game, and a great opportunity to get to know one another better. Here are some pictures from that night! This year, on Mother's Day, we took an opportunity to recognize all of the mother figures in our church, the women who have shaped the lives of our children, regardless of whether they have children of their own. During the service we showed a special video of the children explaining why they love their mothers, and following the service, we photographed all of the women and their families. Later, we mailed each woman a framed copy of her picture to show off to her friends and remember the day. It's always nice to bring the church family together, if for no other reason than to just have fun and enjoy one another's company. That's what we did Sunday, January 29th. Families within our church came together to spend an afternoon bowling, and it was a blast! Check out the pictures below and see for yourself! Christmas is a very special time at Courtland UMC. From our children's nativity to our candlelight service, there are many events going on that touch our hearts and help us to connect with the true meaning of Christmas. Here are some images of the special moments we experienced this past Christmas... |
